Common Yellow Throat and Zinnias Linocut Print
This is a 5-layer reduction linocut of a common yellow throat perched amongst purple zinnia flowers. Inspired by the pleasant sounds of birds and beautiful blooms of spring. This is a limited edition of only 5 prints, some may have very slight tonal variations in the print, due to the handmade nature of the reduction printing process. Art size is 6x8" and printed on an 8 1/2 x 11" sheet of 100% cotton rag paper. Printed with oil-based printing inks and packaged with archival cardboard backing and a clear cellophane sleeve. Prints are signed and numbered.
Reduction printing is a process that involves carving away the block in sections after each layer is printed, leaving a completely carved away block at the end of a printing session. Because of this process the block cannot be printed again after an edition is made.
Because each print is individually printed by hand, slight color shifts or inking patterns do happen, adding to the unique quality of a linocut print.
There are several options:
Limited edition print of 5: $175 each (the very best of the edition/signed and numbered)
Artist proof: $120 each (slightly imperfect prints, these may have slight color changes, be slightly off register, or have ink in the margin)
Signed and numbered Giclee Print: A print reproduction: The original is scanned and printed on smooth matte paper, using an 8-color ink archival inkjet printer. Signed and Limited to 200 prints.
Please Note: The reproduction loses some of the details and texture of the original print.
